Propose A New Member
All Rotarians have the opportunity to propose new members and are encouraged to do so. Women and men who accept the standards of conduct advocated by Rotary and who wish to contribute their talents, energy, and resources to community and world service are candidates for membership. The procedures leading to membership are:
- Rotarian fills out top half of a membership proposal form, signs it, and gives it to the membership chairperson
- Membership chairperson obtains approval of Board of Directors, usually by email
- After Directors approve, Rotary information meeting is held with the candidate to provide information and answer questions
- Candidate signs proposal form
- Notification of the proposal is sent to club members who have one week to submit any written objection to the club president
- If no objection, candidate pays initial fees and prorated dues. If there is objection, Board of Directors makes final decision about admission to membership
- Approved candidate’s badge is ordered by club secretary
- Badge is presented at a club meeting
- New Rotarian gives a classification talk at a club meeting
